This Curtin-Style IEEE Reference Generator is an independent project and is not an official Curtin University service.
What information is collected
Depending on how you use the generator, the application may process:
- Account information: If you create an account, your email address and account UUID are stored by Supabase for authentication and account management.
- Project and reference information: Signed-in users can save project names, bibliographic information and references. This information is stored so that it can be accessed and managed later.
- Metadata lookup information: When you search for a reference using a DOI, title, ISBN, URL or other supported identifier, the search information and retrieved metadata may be stored in the application's metadata cache in Supabase.
- Guest-mode information: When using the generator as a guest, projects and references are stored locally in your browser rather than in your account.
- Browser cookie: Guest mode uses a
guest_modecookie to maintain guest mode between pages.
How information is used
Information is processed to:
- generate and format references;
- retrieve and populate bibliographic metadata;
- cache metadata to reduce repeated external lookups;
- store and organise projects and references for signed-in users;
- authenticate users; and
- operate and maintain the application.
The application does not use your reference information for advertising or advertising profiling.
Metadata providers
When you request a metadata lookup, information such as a DOI, title, ISBN or URL may be sent to the relevant external metadata provider through the application's server.
Retrieved metadata may subsequently be stored in the application's Supabase metadata cache.
Guest mode
Guest projects and references are stored in your browser's local storage. They are not saved to your account.
Guest data may be removed if you clear the site's browser data or otherwise remove the stored local data.
Data storage
Signed-in account, project, reference and metadata-cache information is stored using Supabase.
The application does not require personal information beyond an email address for account authentication.
Data deletion
You can delete saved projects through the application. Guest data can be removed by clearing the application's stored browser data.
For requests concerning deletion of account information or other stored information that cannot be removed through the application, contact the application owner.
Security
Reasonable measures are used to protect information processed by the application. However, no internet-based service can guarantee absolute security.
